Some years ago, when my wife and I were expecting our first child, we found ourselves doing what countless families do — searching for a doctor we could trust. Not just any doctor, but the right doctor. The one with the right expertise, the right approach, the right standing in their field. It should have been simple. It wasn't.
We bounced between hospital websites, scrolled through patient reviews on a dozen platforms, asked friends, asked family — and still felt uncertain. The information that mattered most — a doctor's clinical depth, their training, their reputation within their specialty — was largely invisible. What was visible was a handful of patient reviews, sometimes contradictory, sometimes years out of date, rarely capturing the full picture of the person we were entrusting with one of the most important moments of our lives.
That experience stayed with me. And as the years went by, I noticed something: very little had changed. Patients were still piecing together fragments from review sites, social posts, and hearsay. A doctor's true expertise — the years of training, the academic contributions, the clinical reputation among peers — remained buried under the noise. Meanwhile, some of the most accomplished physicians were often the hardest to find.
From decades of work building healthcare intelligence solutions for better care, I came to believe something simple but powerful — that the most consequential moment in any patient's journey is often the very first one: finding the right doctor. This is the problem Awriri exists to solve.
